Choosing the Right Fireplace Insert Model for Your Home

Fireplace Xtrordinair® offers four extraordinary models of premium traditional gas burning fireplace inserts, with dozens of beautiful designer faces and fireback combinations to personalize your fireplace insert. While every one of these fireplace inserts embody the same attention to detail in design and construction, each fireplace insert is quite unique. Sizing and heating capacity range from medium to large heaters.

Fireplace Xtrordinair® gas inserts allow you to enjoy a gorgeous, glowing fire without losing heat out of your chimney. These inserts are designed to transform virtually any masonry or zero clearance (metal) fireplace into an efficient source of heat. Traditional, open fireplaces can have efficiency ratings as low as 15%, and depending on the condition, can actually draw the heat out of your home for a net heat loss. Our heater-rated gas inserts achieve steady state efficiency ratings as high as 88%.

All Fireplace Xtrordinair® Gas Inserts Feature Direct Venting
All Fireplace Xtrordinair® Premium Gas Inserts feature an efficient co-linear direct venting system. This dual-liner system allows for direct venting through an existing masonry chimney with one liner to vent exhaust and the other liner to provide combustion air and maintain indoor air quality.

Sizing
Consult with your authorized Fireplace Xtrordinair dealer to verify which insert best suits your situation. Before you do, though, take time to answer the following questions:

  1. How will you use your insert: For zonal or supplemental heat or to heat the whole house?
  2. How many square feet do you want to heat?
  3. Will you use natural gas or propane? And is it been piped to the fireplace already?
  4. Is your existing fireplace of masonry or zero clearance (metal) construction?
  5. What type of chimney system does your house have? Look outside at your roof. is it a Metal or Brick chimney?

Take the following measurements to your dealer to help ensure that your insert is the right size.

Hearth to mantle (E)
